About Heartfulness
Mindfulness, paying full attention to the present, has become the meme of the moment for everyone from corporations to sports teams. All are looking to use its increased focus to gain personal advantage in a competitive world. I myself have been practicing mindfulness through Buddhist meditation for more than fifty years. But it's only half of what we need to become whole again. The other half is heartfulness, the practice of living wholeheartedly. Opening your heart to the world is a courageous act in a society bristling with mutual mistrust. Openness makes us vulnerable to violation. But we lose far more than we gain by armoring ourselves against others. Life's innate wonder and delight are only accessible to those brave enough to risk being hurt. Yet the only way to heal is to learn to trust each other again. Heartfulness liberates us from self-defeating fear and opens us up to a universe of more positive possibilities. Hearts do break, but they also heal if we breathe through the broken places to revive our passion for life.
Wear your heart on your hat.
Gladhatters is not a business but a blessing and a prayer. We’re introducing appreciative apparel not to compete in the marketplace of merch or become the latest trend. The purpose of this venture is to bring heartful appreciation back to this heartbroken world. In that spirit, we view those who wish to start their own appreciative ventures not as competition but as compañeros, journeying home on parallel paths. Spread the meme. Make your own messages of affirmation and appreciation. Pass on your rekindled love of life. Amid the dread, strife and sorrow of our times, we’re here to help each other celebrate all that’s left to cherish.
